Ignorance

Tonight after much reflection, it astounds me on how much ignorance is in the United States. We had a presidential election that over 120 million people went out and exercised their right to vote. Even though the election results may or may not have turned out the way you like,  it does give anyone the right to riot and destroy property. You have the right to free speech, and you have the right to peacefully protest, but it does not give you the right to break the law and destroy property, public or private.

The world is looking at us and seeing how we as a country are going to prevail. How do you think we are being portrayed? They are probably laughing at us because of the way some are acting. Rioting – really what is that resolving? Absolutely Nothing except causing turmoil to people that you do not know. Be adults and educate yourself on the electoral process that our founding fathers created. Even though the POTUS Elect may not be the person you voted for and that is fine, but you must respect the choices of your representatives and fellow countrymen.

All of this rioting is just causing hate and division. Is this what you really want? Everyone complains about hate and racism, but the only way to change the perception of others is by showing how you can change and respect yourself and them. Be the educated person that you can be. Don’t let the ignorance of your emotions void out any progress that we as a person, country, or fellow man has accomplished.

Remember this isn’t forever. In four years, we will be back at it again. You never know Trump, no political history, may just do right by this country. We won’t know until he takes office and work.

Just to leave you with one last note, God is in control. I found a saying that is a reminder in how we should think before we act — “if I treated you the way you treated me, then you would hate me.” Think about this before you go and disrespect someone or treat someone unkind or hateful. Try going up to someone different than you and introduce yourself and talk to them, you just might find out that the only difference is your skin color or culture. Try it. I challenged you to be kind and accepting of others and respect their view.
